State Records Committee

Mission Statement
The mission of the State Records Committee is to provide review for the approval, disapproval, amendment, or modification of retention schedules submitted by state agency heads and local governments through the Department of Archives and History in accordance with O.C.G.A. 50-18-92.

Goal Statement
The goal of the State Records Committee is to ensure that essential public records and the information they contain are available to policy makers and the citizens of Georgia for the time necessary to protect the interests of the public and the State.

Policy Statement
It is the policy of the State Records Committee to provide approved retention schedules to government administrators as a viable decision making tool for their records and information management programs.

Annexations
Municipal annexations must be filed with the Department of Community Affairs (DCA). Please do not mail annexations to the Georgia Archives. For the complete Annexation process, please see the Georgia Code, OCGA 36-36-3(a) and (e).
